GLOB, Thankstivity and You!Oh My Glob
I have had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful deviants lately! I just answered over 200 comments and got many laughs and some surprises! I still have more comments to answer, replies to answer, llamas to return and general craziness to promote XD It is a slow process, but I am steadily getting there. I still will be replying to every comment, note and giving every llama back! If you do need me right away, please send me a note since my message center is currently a messy center! lol
The Thankstivity Challenge!
I have decided to participate in the Thankstivity Challenge! It looks like fun and is a great way to promote some positivity on your profile and show some community spirit! With that in mind, I went and found a fun new journal to use (so cute isn't it!) and have been pondering for many days all the things I am thankful about deviantART...
First, I am thankful that deviant
deviantART, we have a problem.Problems on deviantART?
It happens to us all at some point... We find a problem. This problem could be another user, some art or a technical glitch. The types of problems are you could encounter here on deviantART could span 100 news articles, so we will just focus on the most common issues and how to get help with them.
You will, at some point, have an issue with another deviant. Just like in real life, personalities collide, heads will butt, and tempers will flare. But when does it become a problem? And how do you solve the problem?
Harassment is a serious issue. Comments made to you, even if by note, that are "extremely aggressive, insulting or otherwise extremely abusive" are not allowed. The Etiquette Policy and dA FAQ 238 makes this 100% clear. If someone is contacting you and behaving this way, the first th
Getting Noticed aka becoming *Popular*How do you get ahead on deviantART?
I am actually asked this question a lot. And in reality, many artists with lots of watchers are asked this question fairly frequently by both old and new deviantART members. There are actually several different ways to get attention on deviantART, but not all those ways are good and most work best when combined together. Let's look at them all individually and then discuss "best practices."
But what is "popular?"
Is being popular just a status symbol for you to make you happy? Is it an arbitrary number assigned to an inanimate object like a pageview? It is a silly symbol by your username that means virtually NOTHING to the majority of the deviantART community (and is meaningless to the rest of the internet)? There are artists out there who are called "popular" but who don't think they are popular. And there are artists out there who many wouldn't classify as "popular" but think they are the most popular thing since unde
What to do about all these IDEAS?!Types of Ideas
Every one of us, at one time or another, will have an idea. The issue is where the idea falls... Is it an idea for a new artwork, character, style, etc? Is it an idea for a cause or event that can help people? Is it an idea to help improve the site in some way? Let's take a look at how we deal with each idea differently...
Art can be digital, traditional, literature, and more. And if you have an idea for a new type of art, you should simply GO FOR IT! You don't need anyone's permission. You can collaborate with other artists on new characters or story designs, commission an artist to make your vision come true, or simply blaze your own trail into the unknown. The point is that this is primarily an ART site. Do the art. And have fun with it. When you are done, submit your art to different groups to get critiques and even more ideas!

Respect on deviantARTWhat is Respect?
Respect, in a nutshell, is "to show regard or consideration for." (per Dictionary.com)
You can show respect when arguing with or disagreeing with someone. It is simply giving another person consideration for their thoughts and opinions. While you may not always agree with everyone you meet, that doesn't mean you can simply trample over all of their thoughts and opinions without regard for their feelings, experiences, knowledge, etc. But it also doesn't mean you have to agree with them.
Take time out to BREATH before commenting on something. If it upsets you and you feel the need to curse at or belittle a person (or their work or rights), stop yourself and ask if you would feel okay if someone did the same to you. Chances are, if you wouldn't want to receive a comment or reply like that, you shouldn't leave it in the first place.

Self-Control: Respect ItSelf-Respect and Self-Control
If you remember in our last article, we discussed self-respect and self-esteem. Well, a very insightful deviant pointed out that self-control is just as important as self-respect and self-esteem...
Self-control is "the ability to exercise restraint or control over one's feelings, emotions, reactions, etc." Self-control is not ever easy and most certainly is never mastered. We all have good days and bad days, can be sleep deprived, may have other issues like an emotional disorder to consider, and more! But that doesn't mean that we should just give up on self-control. It may be hard, but we can still do our best every day to have enough respect for ourselves and the people we interact with to try and control ourselves.
"Self-respect and self-control are also two sides of the same co
The Theft / Hotlinking Issue (Edit #11 YES!!!) The Site has been DOWN for over a WEEK #11
It is the truth. dramakoreaterbaru.com is down at this time still, now nearly two weeks later since I first saw that it was down. NAME.com LLC still holds the name per Who.IS, but it appears as though our good friend (that was sarcasm) has either sold, given up or transferred his domain toSabatang sajo

So something tells me that this is NOT over 100% as whoever this Sabatang sajo that Belwant Sendiri sold/gave the domain to is apparently still allowing him access to it. However, at this time, the ENTIRE site is completely down. If you use that link to view t

Complaint Challenge Contest!
We got our complaints out in December 2012. Now, 2013 is about doing something productive with them. I am not going to sit and grumble about my pet peeves. Neither should you!
Anyone who knows me should have been suspicious from the start of Phase 1 because complaining is one of my own complaints. (And you saw this trick last year!) That's right. I complain about people complaining. Silly, yes? Well I decided to do something about it with this challenge.
I hope everyone enjoyed sharing their gripes in Phase 1 because it is time for Phase 2! And Phase 2 is open to everyone, even if you didn't participate in Phase 1, or decided to change what complaint you'd like to address!
Complaint Challenge – Phase 2
The challenge in a nutshell: Pick one of your dA complaints and do something proactive about it. Work toward a solution or improvement in a positive way.
Now a few of you are probably thinking things like, "I

Thursday: Tree, Olive, Bottle Art Contest!I hope you all had a fantastic Valentine's Day last week! Well done spreading the love to all.
This week, we're continuing the love trend. We're doing an art creation contest. However, there's a twist -- you must use three pre-determined items in your piece!
We want you to create a deviation including three specific items that revolves around our theme of love:
Your deviation must contain these images:
How you incorporate these items around the theme of love is up to you!
Of course, you may use more than the objects above, but all three of those objects must appear. Feel free to create whatever inspires you! Maybe someone is creating a model tree with olive-colored leaves in a bottle to give to his love. Or, maybe two olives are sitting in a tree, sipping wine from a bottle. Whatever your mind creates, we want to see it!
You can draw, take a photograph, write a story, use

Keep in Touch!
Lilyas has dedicated herself to making our community a brighter place with her vibrant artwork and infectious enthusiasm for interacting with others in our community. It has certainly paid off, as many deviants flock to her page on a daily basis to let her know how much of an inspiration she is. We absolutely agree, and couldn't let all that hard work go without recognition, so it's with great pride that we bestow the Deviousness Award for March 2014, to ... Read More
